Let's gain some information about Fourth Generation ,


Fourth Generation  :-

Time period of fourth generation of computer was 1971 to 1980.

Fourth generation was based on microprocessor.

Microprocessor is combination of micro + processor,

Microprocessor process the binary instructions that comes from memory of computer system .

In fourth gen , VLSI ( very large scale integrated circuit ) were used.

VLSI contains millions of electric components in small chip.

Fourth gen was fast , secure , reliable , small in size in  all three generations that i published before ,


Fourth generation was era of personal computers ,
Personal computers were famous , because , PC is small , fast, reliable too.

High level languages like C,C++ were used in this fourth gen of computer systems .

Fourth gen became successful because of small design , low in cost , and one of the most important things is that it was available in all places in market.

Names of computer that developed in fourth generation :-

1. PDP  11
2. STAR  1000
3. DEC  10
4. IBM  4341
5. PUP  11
6. CRAY - 1

Advantages :-

1. VLSI was used.
2. Smaller in size
3. Low cost
4. Available in almost every places.
5. Era of personal computer , PC was developed in this generation.
6. No need of cooling system.

Dis-advantages :-

1. Hard to develop microprocessor
2. Hard to maintain microprocessor chips.
3. Heating problem occured sometimes.
